LOCATION
LEDP operates primarily in the basement of the school building. Close collaboration with the school Principal and classroom teachers has resulted in their making classrooms available to complete homework. LEDP also has access to the library, auditorium, cafeteria and gymnasiums and playground areas.
We also take advantage of the surrounding area visiting the Muddy River, neighborhood playgrounds, and the MDC skating rink. On special trips we visit such places as the Brookline HS pool, Food Pantry, grocery stores, Fire House and Police Station as well as many places that Boston has to offer.
TEACHING STAFF
We maintain a ratio of 1 teacher for every 6 children in our pre-K and kindergarten. The ratio may go up to 1:10 in our older student programs. Many of our teachers have a degree in early childhood education; others studied art, theater or music. Some have played semi pro sports, others speak Spanish - the language taught at Lawrence School. All of them are nurturing, responsible, fun and energetic. In each teaching team we have 3-4 teachers, one of whom is the coordinator and must be certified by the Department of Early Education and Care, our licenser.
DAILY ACTIVITIES
Our daily schedule (click to pdf) includes a variety of activities that vary by age group. Homework support is a priority and we strive to have homework completed by pick up time. We work with classroom teachers by providing activities that continue and reinforce learning via arts and crafts, games, cooking and science projects. Each day also includes snack time and free play both indoors and out.
SCHEDULING OPTIONS
our child may attend for 5, 4, 3 or 2 days. We operate from 12:15 – 2:15 for the pre-K children or they can stay until 6:00. Our K-6 programs operate from 2:20 – 6:00. We require parents to sign an annual Contract and there is a financial obligation if you change your schedule or leave the program.
VACATION CARE
We offer coverage over most school vacations and holidays at an additional fee.
